The White House annoyed by the presence of a journalist at the border

The White House is angered by a Fox News reporter’s persistent coverage of the southern border immigration crisis, according to a Policy report.

Several current and former White House officials have said Policy they are frustrated by Fox News reporter Bill Melugin’s coverage of the record number of migrants crossing the border. Melugin has been a constant presence on Fox News this year, pairing on-the-ground coverage with aerial drone footage to demonstrate the scale of migrant crossings.

White House officials’ irritation at Melugin’s coverage, which they say is alarmist and lacking in nuance, comes as immigration is one of President Joe Biden’s weakest issues ahead of the election. midterms of 2024. More than half of Americans to believe the United States is seeing an “invasion” on the southern border, according to an NPR poll last month.

Last week, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Fox News had learned — via Melugin’s reporting — that Texas Governor Greg Abbott (right) was planning to transport migrants by bus to the home of Vice President Kamala Harris in Washington, DC.

“The fact that Fox News – not the Department of Homeland Security, the city or local NGOs – was alerted to a plan to leave migrants, including children, at the side of a busy street in DC makes it clear that this is nothing but a cruel, premeditated political coup,” Jean-Pierre said.

Fox News has previously clashed with the Biden administration over its border coverage. Last year, the Federal Aviation Administration temporarily banned the network to fly drones over migrants being processed in the country.
