Progress made in Australia to get a nuclear-powered submarine

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The leaders of the United States, United Kingdom and Australia said in a statement on Friday marking the first anniversary of the AUKUS security pact that they had made “significant progress” towards acquiring by Australia of a nuclear-powered submarine.

“We are firm in our commitment that Australia acquires this capability as soon as possible,” the statement said.
