asia Wilen is a trending brand, loved by influencers and socialites alike Kim Kardashian, Lala Anthony, Lori Harvey and more for their body-hugging parts and prints!
According to Ssens,Maisie Schloss, the designer behind euphoric Los Angeles-based brand Maisie Wilen, is the first recipient of Kanye West’s Incubator Fellowship for emerging designers. The Chicago native, a graduate of New York’s Parsons School of Design, spent three years working as a womenswear designer for West’s coveted Yeezy brand, honing her craft, before launching her own line in 2019. Maisie Wilen’s singular aesthetic, which garnered industry-wide attention for her playful mix of activewear and ’90s-inspired evening wear, quickly established itself as a Kardashian-Jenner favorite. Inspired by rhythmic gymnastics and robots, Schloss’ collection is fluid yet calculated: ergonomic mini-skirts, blazers, leggings, tops and dresses feature graphic patterns reminiscent of nostalgia. Crafted from technical fabrics, Schloss’ form-fitting garments reveal sophistication in their subtle detailing: gathers, low-back constructions and cutouts make for a collection that’s as irreverent in spirit as it is elegant in execution. . Admitting understated references to its Yeezy past, Schloss has truly established Maisie Wilen as a one-of-a-kind label to watch.
Spring 2023 for Maisie Wilen features gender-neutral, size-inclusive pieces with digital prints and multiple faces, defined by green screen, a nod to our current cultural obsession with virtual reality and Zoom calls.
The label’s perforated turtlenecks, nebula pants and muscle beach tank tops have been reinvented for a new audience. Must-have prints for next year will include water droplets, renderings of space and what appear to be safety signs, splattered on latex.
I’m always a fan of revised and updated patterns.
